English Star® and Real English®
Lire en français.
Thanks to collaborative work carried out with our new Canadian friends, including Andrew, Lee, and Kerri in Japan at English Star (sites in English and in Japanese), Real English is now using the new English Star player.
No matter how students and teachers use this multilingual, muktitasking player, it can only ensure or improve comprehension, enabling students to quickly grasp meaning in different video contexts.
These are the "How to Use" instructions from English Star:
"1.Watch
Play the video lesson. Choose your subtitle language using the SUB menu, or watch without subtitles.
2.Learn
Watch again, and pause the video lesson to study the words and sentences in the learning bubbles. Follow along using the script. Take the review quiz.
3.Speak
Practice and record your version of the video lesson. Share with your EnglishStar friends by uploading your version to the My Media section of your EnglishStar profile."
I like to provide a stricter recommendation, knowing that each student will do it his or her own way in any case, no matter what we write. And that's not a bad thing.
But this is my suggestion, for students who want to speak first and foremost, in addition to all the rest.
1.Watch
Find the SUB menu and watch without any subtitles (no English, no other language). Watch, and "listen to the music" many times, even if you don't understand a thing. Get your ears used to new sounds. This is difficult, but your pronunciation will be much better if you learn this way.
2. Learn
Go to the first Real English exercise in the lesson. Follow the guide. Do all the quizzes.
2. Learn more
Watch again with ENGLISH subtitles, and pause the video to study the words and sentences in the learning bubbles (available in French in Real English).
3. Consolidate
Follow along using the script. Take the review quiz. Finally, watch the video in your native language if it is available (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and French. Other languages will hopefully be added, including Spanish and Portuguese).
4. What? Problems? Then do it all backwards. Begin with the video AND the subtitle you prefer! Seriously, it's not that important in the end. The important point is to get interested, to get to work.

Here's an image showing the player with the "PLY" choices. In the case of Real English, it includes French Bubbles:

Subtitles are available in many different languages according to the video on the English Star site. In the case of Real English, there are 5 subtitle languages:
Korean, Chinese, Japanese, French, and English:
