Lesson 9: What Time is it?

The textbooks are strict about formulas we supposedly use to tell the time. For example, one man in this video says that it is "about 17 minutes of 12", but you probably already learned that only "17 minutes to 12" is correct.

A young lady, says that it is "5 minutes after 2" but you probably learned that "5 minutes past 2" is the only correct reply. This is real English. This is the way people speak.
